Arkansas Transit Association (ATA) has been named a finalist
in the non-profit category for the 2009 Arkansas Business of the Year Awards.
Incorporated in 1980, ATA has over 240 member agencies and is
the second largest state transit association in the country. Members include Arkansas’ 14 urban and
community transit systems, non-profit agencies serving people who are elderly
or disabled, professional agencies and planning organizations, commercial tour
businesses, and associate members.
ATA offers an award-winning passenger safety training
program, technical assistance, and a variety of benefits as it helps agencies
provide safe transportation and good customer service. In addition, the Association provides affordable
DOT drug and alcohol testing consortia services, employee background screening,
a Worker’s Compensation Self-Insurance Trust, and BRAVO Insurance plans.
Ann Gilbert, the Association’s Executive Director stated, “We
are honored to be selected as a finalist for this prestigious award.”
